Plot
The film opens with a young man named Jim Bridger (Gary Cooper) leaving his home in Kentucky to seek adventure in the American West. He travels to the Rocky Mountains, where he meets a group of mountain men led by Kit Carson (Walter Huston). Bridger joins the group and soon becomes one of the most skilled mountain men in the West.
