Embodied knowledge is the knowledge that is gained through the body. It is the knowledge of how to move, how to express oneself through movement, and how to interact with the world through movement. Embodied histories are the histories that are told through the body. They are the stories of our experiences, our emotions, and our cultures that are expressed through movement.

The articles in this special issue explore the ways in which embodied knowledge and embodied histories are expressed through dance. They examine the ways in which dance can be used to communicate, to heal, to educate, and to inspire.
