Objective of the Game

The objective of Plus Four is to be the first player to get rid of all of their cards. The first player to do so wins the game.

Setup

Plus Four is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The cards are shuffled and dealt out evenly to all of the players. The number of cards that each player receives depends on the number of players in the game. For example, if there are four players, each player will receive 13 cards. If there are five players, each player will receive 10 cards.

Gameplay

The player to the left of the dealer goes first. On their turn, a player can play a card that matches the number or color of the card that is on top of the discard pile. For example, if the top card on the discard pile is a red 7, a player can play a red 7, a blue 7, a green 7, or a yellow 7. If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile.

If a player draws a Plus Four card, they can play it on any card. When a Plus Four card is played, the next player must draw four cards and skip their turn. The player who played the Plus Four card can then choose the color that the game will continue with.

The game continues until one player has gotten rid of all of their cards. That player wins the game.

Variations

There are a number of different variations of Plus Four. Some of the most popular variations include:

• Skip-Bo: In Skip-Bo, players must build up their cards into stacks in ascending order. The first player to get rid of all of their cards wins the game.
• Phase 10: In Phase 10, players must complete a series of different phases in order to win the game. The first player to complete all 10 phases wins the game.
